Dr. Hawks received his bachelor's degree in physics from Brigham Young University - Idaho, his masters of business administration from Southern Utah University, and his doctor of optometry degree from Southern California College of Optometry at Marshall B. Ketchum University.
He completed internships at the University Eye Center in Anaheim, NVISION Eye Centers in Newport Beach, CA, the Lowell Community Health Center in Lowell, MA, the VA Salt Lake City Hospital, the Moran Eye Center in Salt Lake City, and the Four Corners Regional Health Center in Red Mesa, AZ. During his internships, Dr. Hawks received extensive training in treating a large variety of eye diseases such as dry eye, macular degeneration, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, keratoconus, and high astigmatism. Dr. Hawks has a special interest in computer vision, refractive surgery co-management, dry eye treatment, and fitting hard-to-fit contact lenses.
Dr. Hawks grew up in Orem and went to Orem High School. He is thrilled to be returning to serve the community where he grew up. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Boston, Massachusetts where he learned to speak Spanish. When he returned home, he married Tatiana, the girl who lived around the corner, in 2014 who taught him to speak Portuguese. They have two sons, Isaac and Hugh. In his free time, Dr. Hawks enjoys yo-yoing, BYU sports, Star Wars, the piano, puzzles, and making funny noises to entertain his sons.
